“Top 40 Wristcutters” was recorded mid 2009 over a long time
This is an album that almost killed me. And I’m so happy with it. Hours were spent on it and so much hard work was put into it. It was a journey unlike anything I had ever gone through. To go over detail by detail of how it was recorded would take up a novel worth of pages. I wanted to create something much more polished then the last two but also make something honest and pure. I played almost all the instruments on the album. Except for the song “These pockets”. This was a moment in my journey that meant everything to me. My dad came in and played trumpet on the track and one of my best friends (And drummer) Donny Lawson played drums on it. Having my dad on the album meant the world to me and truly made all the hard work and hassle that this album brought with it worth it. The lyrics ranged from the crazy obscure to the most direct stuff I’d ever written. There is a lot of dark creepy stuff on the album but also a lot of my best love songs. It ranges in mood song to song and your never sure which way it’s gonna go next. It’s not an album of one mood. It’s an album of many moods. And even though it almost killed me I’m very proud of it.
