about

“Hooray The Queen Is Dead!” was recorded over a very small amount of time in mid 2008. The album was primarily recorded just for fun and to do something a little different from the loud drums and power chords that I was so used to with my band at the time. A lot of the songs are very direct as far as the message and mood they set. It was a very “in the moment” type of recording process. I would never just sit down and say I had to record a song. It was always just an idea or something that came to me that made me want to play and record something at that time. An example would be the album opener “But… I’m Just The King” Late one night I was fast asleep but was woken up by a heavy rain. I jumped out of bed and as the lightning lit the room and the thunder shook the walls I set up a few microphones and just played the first thing that came to my mind. The result is that song. It was off the top of my head and yet I don’t think I could improve on it if I tried. At fifteen songs total I found myself very excited and very proud of the album. It was a new and unexpected journey to anyone that knew me. It’s a rough listen at times. Filled with white noise and a true analog feel. But that’s part of its charm. It creates a world and mood for these songs to shine in the way they were meant to. I hope you enjoy!
